Smart and Sustainable Cities

The Advanced Training program on Smart and Sustainable Cities is aimed at those responsible for territorial governance and cities and towns who want to participate in this process actively. In particular, in the creation of innovative planning and management systems in the context of urban analytics, which takes advantage of the latest developments in the field of participatory citizenship, open data, artificial intelligence, mobile computing, and the Internet of Things.

With the proposed Study Plan, this course presents a structure that combines the various areas that support the design of urban intelligence strategies with the real challenges that its construction implies and will include 10 of the following available course units (CU), with a duration of 4 hours each, to be selected by the municipalities of the Intermunicipal Community (IMC) or Metropolitan Area (MA):

  • Public Policy Impact Assessment;
  • Big Data;
  • Case Studies on Smart Cities and Artificial Intelligence;
  • Smart and Sustainable Cities;
  • Smart Cities Law and Regulation;
  • Innovation Management & Design Thinking;
  • Urban Governance and Analytics;
  • Artificial Intelligence;
  • Digital Marketing;
  • Geographic Information Systems;
  • Municipal Digital Transformation.

Schedule

This course program will run for 4 weeks. Classes will be held on Fridays and Saturdays at the CIM/MA facilities, and the expected weekly distribution of the course load will be:

- Fridays: 9am to 1pm and 2pm to 6pm;

- Saturdays: 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

 

There will only be one session on Friday afternoon in the last week, followed by the closing dinner and the awarding of certificates. Attendance of this program will award a certificate of "Advanced Studies in Smart and Sustainable Cities" issued by NOVA IMS.

Registration and Fees

This training course, held on a date to be agreed, contemplates the participation of 15 to 20 participants. The course fees will depend on the training structure, which can be adapted, case by case, according to the characteristics, specificities, and needs of each CIM/MA. Who is ir for?

The Advanced Training Program on Smart and Sustainable Cities is mainly aimed at municipalities of the Intermunicipal Community (IMC) or Metropolitan Area ( MA) that wish to acquire skills in Smart Cities, based on the most advanced technologies and methodologies for data collection, analysis, and processing, resulting from the ongoing digital transformation and the opportunities created by the advent of artificial intelligence.
